The Flying Horsebox made it safely to Hong Kong so this morning we were out at Sha Tin to see our equine colleagues go through their paces.
And tonight we will be heading for Happy Valley for the International Jockeys Championship!
The jockeys representing Britain are Silvestre de Sousa, Ryan Moore, and Oisin Murphy (two Irish and one Brazilian); representing Hong Kong Zac Purton, Joao Moreira, Karis Teetan and Vincent Ho (well one of them is a Hong Kong native), and then Frankie Dettori representing Italy, Pierre-Charles Boudot representing France, Colin Keane representing Ireland and James McDonald (a Kiwi) representing Australia. They compete in four races with their mounts randomly drawn.
The last of the 4 competition races is a Class 2 over 1800m, so we have more of an idea of form here. High Rev will start favourite – he's been doing well both in races and trackwork and Karis Teetan has the ride and they have a quote of 2.6. There's a pair of Dragons here which we always like – Glorious Dragon on 7.4 for Vincent Ho and Happy Dragon 7.6 for Frankie Dettori. Helene Charisma has a very good chance here and is value on 7.9 for James McDonald and John Moore. And our roughie here is Green Luck 14.0 for Yuga Kawada and Caspar Fownes.
This morning we had a good look at some of the Japanese runners as they worked on the turf. Indy Champ and Deidre did some serious work and Normcore and Glory Vase did Parade Ring schooling after their gallops.
