Carlos Pellegrini at San Isidoro

3 minute read

Saturday sees the running of Argentina's top race with runners coming from various South American jurisdictions.

It will also be an emotional race with veteran jockey Pablo Falero retiring after this race.

Miriñaque is trained by Maria Ga. Muñoz and won the Argentine Derby (dirt) but has won at G1 level on the turf.

Joy Canela is the first female horse for the last 6 years and she is trying to amend the lack of female winners of the race in the last 26 seasons.  She's won two G1s one of which was over this course and distance (2400m).

Tetaze was second in the Argentine Derby, Emiteric is another c&d winners and the Brazilian George Washington has been doing well at home.

There are 24 horses set to run in this epic event.
