Potters Corner wins Welsh Grand National

3 minute read

Seems only fitting the its owned by Welsh Rugby star Jonathan Davies.

It's very much a home win as both trainer and jockey are young and promising rather than household names and the other owners are in a syndicate run by an ex rugby player.  He's the first Welsh winner for 54 years so great excitement.  Truckers Lodge 10/1 was second and Yala Enki third on 8/1.

Earlier Allmankind defeated Cerberus to win the Juvenile Hurdle.

At Leopardstown Rachael Blackmore got her 6th Gr 1 win for 2019 when she guided A Plus Tard to victory in the Gr 1 Chase, with favourite Chacun Pour Soi finishing nearly four lengths back in second which surprised all.  Hardline fell and Ordinary World got the third money for the second year running.

Abracadabra won the Novice Hurdle Gr 1 by 8 lengths!

Saturday's card sees the running of the Frank Ward Memorial Hurdle Gr 1 Bacardys is on 11/8 but Apple's Jade is a dual acceptor and the prices may vary – if he runs here he'd be on 11/4.  We love Unowwhatimeanharry and he's on 6/1 with 7 horses in the field.

The Savils Chase Gr 1 sees last year's winner Kemboy lining up – he's won his last two and except for losing his jockey would have won his last 7.  7/4.  Presenting Percy is on 10/1 and we are adding a roughie here since there are 9 runners – Anibale Fly on 20/1.
