The Saudi Cup

3 minute read

Billed as the richest race in the world, the Saudi Cup has attracted a glittering international cast.

Top of the bill is the American Maximum Security, controversially b disqualified in the Kentucky Derby but has continued to show his class since then and is on 5/2 in the UK.  UK prices are shown as there is no betting in the Kingdom.

Fellow American runners with their experience on dirt are also fancied with McKinzie on 11/, Mucho Gusto 6/1, Tacitus 10/1 and Midnight Bisou 12/1.

Benbatl has proved he can run on anything and is in great form comi8ng over from Dubai for this and his 8/1 looks value.

The Japanese runners Chrysoberyl, top dirt horse in Japan but this is more competitive, is on 14/1 and compatriot Gold Dream is not the worst here and is on 25/1.

The race is over 1800m on the dirt track.

The meeting starts off on the tur with the Naghi Motors Cup over 2000m with the lovely Deidre by far the best of these – she's odds-on and will be ridden by Oisin Murphy.  There could be some quinella value here with the Bahrain runner Port Lions undefeated and on 16/1. Intellogent on 10/1 and Trais Fluors on 14/1.

The stc 1351 Cup is over 1400m with a couple of Appleby runners here – Glorious Journey 3/1 and Mubtasim 11/2, with Suedois 10/1 and Dark Power 40/1 amongst the challengers.

The Longines Turf Handicap is over 3000m and features a couple of runners known to followers of the Melbourne Cup – Cross Counter on 2/1 and Prince of Arran 8/1.  Called To The Bar is on the same quote, Dee Ex Bee now in Dubai on 9/2 and Call The Wind 7/1.
