Saturday in Japan

3 minute read

With the first G1 on turf for 2020 to be run Sunday, we take a look at two interesting races on Saturday.

The Nikkei Sho will be run at Nakayama over 2500m and it is G2 with a very tight go for favouritism.  At the moment Etario is on 5.2, Mikki Swallow 5/4, Mozu Bello 6.1 and Red Leon 6.9 with Soul Stirring on 7.2.  Any one of these could win.  Soul Stirring is running much better of late and is at each-way odds so that might be the go.

At Hanshin the Mainichi Hai is G3 over 1800m for the 3yo with 10 colts and two fillies in the mix.  At present Satono Imperial with Take on board and Al Jannah with Hewitson riding are both on 2.7.  It looks to be a mano-a-mano between these two and their respective jockeys.  Stone Ridge is on 5.5 if you want to add for the multiples.
