Dramatic finish to Takamatsunomiya Kinen

3 minute read

The first four home in the G1 at Chukyo on Sunday finished in a tight bunch but dramatic developments ensued.

In a very rare move the stewards demoted Kurino Gaudi, the first over the line, to fourth place claiming that he had caused interference to Mozu Superflare and Diatonic.

So eventually the win went to Mozu Superflare who started on 32.3 by a nose from Gran Alegria with Diatonic third, and Kurino Gaudi fourth.

Tower of London and Danon Smash were disappointing while Mozu Ascot blew the start and had no hope after that.

Mozu Superflare is a 5yo mare by Speightstown (one of our favourites).

On Saturday the G2 Nikkei Sho at Nakayama went to Mikki Swallow who beat Mozu Belle and Stifelio for the minors.  Soul Stirring was back to his old bad habits.

At Hanshin the G3 Mainichi Hai saw Yutaka Take bring home the favourite Satono Impresa to win by ¾ length from Al Jannah with Danon Alien 2 ½ lengths away third.
