A very International QEII

3 minute read

A very different Randwick will see a very different Queen Elizabeth Stakes this Saturday.

Last year it was all about Winx and her finale and this year there is a totally different look to the race.

Our focus as usual is on the international runners (not including the Kiwis).

Firstly there is Addeybb the William Haggas trained runner who showed his class in the Ranvet where he just nudged out Verry Elleegant.  Tom Marquand is again on board and given that the Ranvet run should have toned him up nicely he has to be a hot chance here.

And then there is Danon Premium, a son of Deep Impact, who has gone through all the quarantine processes in order to be here for this race, which is a wonderful gesture on the part of his connections.  He hasn't races since last November, but you can be sure with the Japanese runners that they will be trained exactly with the race in question in focus.  He's been up against the very top in Japan, coming second to Almond Eye in last year's Tenno Sho (Autumn) and beating Lys Graciux in the Kinko Sho.  While the wet track could be a question his class should carry him through that.

They are betting on this race in Japan and should he win we will probably be able to hear the cheering from here!
