Hamelin off to a good start

3 minute read

Visiting French jockey Antoine Hamelin made the most of his first day riding in Hong Kong to ride a double.

He has a way to go to catch Joao Moreira who got his 100th winner for the season during the afternoon.

The day's feature was the last race the Austin Handicap over 1400m where we were delighted to see one of our picks Ballistic King score for Karis Teetan.  He had a big weight advantage over the second home Beauty Legacy who was much better behaved this time and the third home was the reliable Decrypt who finished just ahead of Star Shine.

It looked as if Perfect Match was going to provide Antoine Hamelin with a treble at one stage until he faded and it was found after the race he had blood in his trachea, which is something that has happened before.  He'll have to be vetted before he can race again but there must now be a question mark over his future.
