80th Satsuki Sho

3 minute read

Nakayama will be the venue for today's G1, first of the classics for the boys.

The Satsuki Sho is the Japanese 2000 Guineas and will be run over 2000m at Nakayama.  There was rain yesterday so not sure what the turf condition will be.

There's some exciting prospects here including several runners who are unbeaten so far.

Conntrail is by Deep Impact and unbeaten in 3 outings.  Fukunaga-san will ride for Yahagi-sensai and has a win here over the trip so comes in currently on 3.2.

Satono Flag is another Deep Impact and will have Christophe Lemaire on board.  He's won over C&D and in the wet as well.  He's on 3.9.

Damien Lane is back in Japan on a short-term licence (until 17 May) and will be on the Hori-sensei trained Salios, by Heart's Cry.  He's another unbeaten colt and they are on 4.2.

Only those three are on single figures.  If you want to go wider, Crystal Black by Kizuna is on 10.9 and our roughie is Galore Creek, by Kinshasa no Kiseki.  He'll have Lyle Hewitson in the irons and they are on 30.9.
