Tenno Sho (Spring) 2020 at Kyoto on Sunday

3 minute read

This Tenno Sho is over 3200m, same distance as the Melbourne Cup.

Fierement is trying to win this for the second consecutive year, a feat rarely done.  He went to France last year for the Arc but the ground didn't suit and on return he ran a reasonable race in the Arima Kinen.  Christophe Lemaire has the ride and although they have drawn the carpark it should not be a problem over this trip.

You Can Smile won the Hanshin Daishoten which is over 3000m and considered one of the main lead up races.  He's on 5.2.

Yutaka Take has won this a few times and has been booked to ride Kiseki who comes in on 6.1.  Mikki Swallow is also very honest and is on 9.3 following his win in the Nikkei Sho over 2500m, and Mozu Bello was close behind him in that race.  He likes Kyoto and is on 11.8 so a bit of value.

This by no means rules out the rest of the runners but generally this race goes to horses who have shown current form.
