Whether it was the extra length of the trip or the fact we didn't tip him but Chefano got his big win.
This was Sunday in Hong Kong when he outstayed the field to win the G3 Queen Mother Memorial Cup by 2 ¼ lengths from Savvy Nine. Matthew Chadwick took the John Moore trained son of Silvano to the lead early on and he just bowled along in front and repelled all challenges.
He had recently returned from Conghua and this may have helped him re-focus.
There were only 5 runners in the race, with favourite Helene Leadingstar not having the best of luck when pushed out wide on the turn but he was beaten by a better horse on the day.
Chefano will probably be aimed at the Champions and Chater, another 2400m race, although there he will probably have a harder task.
Ricky Yiu who is having a great season saddled his 800thh Hong Kong winner.
