It was a very tight photo between Fierement and Stiffelio with a nose the official margin although it looked more like half a nostril.

Fierement had settled towards the rear of the field for the 3200m trip until Christophe Lemaire started to take him past the other runners coming up to the home turn when he was unleashed to pull out a driving finish with only Stiffelio, who had started on 64.2, just failing to hold out the winners.

It was 2 ½ lengths back then to Mikki Swallow, who had followed the winner closely with You Can Smile a length away fourth.  Tosen Cambino who had spent most of the race at the back of the field got past most of them to finish 5th, a run that gets him into the little black book.

On Saturday the G2 Aoba Sho, a Derby trial, was run over the 2400m Derby trip at Fuchu.

Authority under Lyle Hewitson produced a great finish to win by a neck from Valcos who is by Novelist and started on 12.4 and the same margin back to Figlio Allegro under Damien Lane with a great 3-way photo for the first three home.
