This is one of our favourite days in racing and unfortunately like many others we will be watching on TV instead of being there.

The outstanding 3yo in the field is Contrail, a Deep Impact colt trained by Yahagi-sensei and Fukunaga will ride.  They won the first leg of the Triple Crown the Satsuki Sho and are on top of the market on 1.5, after which it looks quite open.  At present next best is Salios by Heart's Cry with Damian Lane on the Hori-trained colt.  Then it is really out to open territory with Wakea on 12.0, Satono Flag on 14.1, Darlington Hall the Godolphin-owned colt by New Approach on 29.0 having firmed slightly overnight, and Deep Bond on 35.0.

The Meguro Kinen G2 over 2500m is the following race.  It's very open with King of Koji on 5.1, Ocea Great 5.5, Taisei Trial on 7.7, Stay Foolish on 13.1 whom we rather like, and Nishino Daisy on 14.8 – by Harbinger out of an Agnes Tachyon mare.
