A Parisian Sunday at Deauville

3 minute read

The two G2s were won by horses with "Paris" in the name.

The Gran Prix de Chantilly went to Way To Paris who ran a blinder to win by 4 ½ lengths over the early leader French King, and the Prix de Gros-Chêne to Tour de Paris, our roughie.  He won by 4 lengths from Gold Vibe with Ken Colt third.

Tour de Paris started his racing life in Hungary where he won everything and has been steadily going forward under the care of Pia Brandt.

Monday will see the two G1 "Guineas" – the Poule d'Essai des Poulains and the Pouliches, both over the straight 1600m.

The Poulains has a field of 9 headed by the Godolphin glamour-boy Victor Ludorum, trained by Andre Fabre with Mikael Barzalona on board.  UK has them on 2/1.  Next best in the market could be a real threat – Ecrivain, trained by Carlos Laffon Parias with Maxime Guyon riding and they are on 3/1.

There are two other Fabre runners who are in the running – Alson on 9/2 and Arapaho on 8/1.

The Pouliches has 12 runners and it looks on paper to be a 2-way go beween Tropbeau 2/1 and Simeen 3/1 from the Fabre and Rouget yards respectively.  Tickle Me Green has shown promise and is on 6/1 and Dream And Do on 7/1.
