The Deep Impact product is en route to echoing his sire's performance in the Triple Crown.

Starting odds-on, the unbeaten Contrail was in a comfortable position in the run and round the turn until Fukunaga-san produced him as they came up the hill and Contrail and Salio set sail leaving the rest of the field behind then but Contrail had another gear and stormed away to win by an easy 3 lengths.

Weltreisender ran on well for third at odds as did the fourth home Satono Impresa also on a big price.  One for the little black book is Black Hole who together with Salios ran the second fastest last 600m.

Fortunately the get-out wasn't needed for getting out!  That was the G2 Meguro Kinen which was taken out by the favourite King of Koji from a fast-finishing Ice Bubbles (a second second for Damian Lane but he'd won an earlier race) and Stay Foolish third.
