Two good news stories

3 minute read

To brighten up the weekend here are two good news stories.

The first concerns a 16yo mare In Japan who is still racing!  Her name is Hikaru Ayanohime and she's by Meisho Odo out off Golden Tasso.  She's had 264 outings for 14 wins, 23 seconds and 25 thirds and last week she came 5th at a race at Chukyo on the dirt.

Second good news story concerns the horses that were stolen from the Al Shaab stud in Libya in January.  59 horses including 6 stallions and a number of pregnant mares were taken by thieves possibly with political motives involved.  Good news that the stud has now recovered 38 of these horses, including Raise A Grand and the Aussie bred Brut Force.  Still not found are two other Aussie breds Bankdraft and Churchill Downs.  Al Shaab report that many of the horses show signs of wounds incurred during their capture, and that on the whole the mares appear to be in better condition than the stallions.
