Admittedly they were G3 races but still the winners of both races were unexpected.

In Tokyo the Epsom Cup over 1800m went to Daiwa Cagney who started on 22.1.  So Glittering, the second home, was at a slightly more respectable 9.8 but the third home who was only a nose away Taurus Gemini was the biggest outsider off the field starting on 136.9.

At Hanshin the Mermaid Stakes went to Summer Scent on 14.7 with Centelleo second on 6.6 and 1 ¼ back to Lune Rouge who just held out Naruhaya.
