O'Brien first four in 14th Irish Derby win

3 minute read

It was a very happy day indeed for Aidan O'Brien as 4 of his 5 runners in the Derby filled the first four places.

The win went to Saturnalia as the son of Authorised added to his CV following on his impressive win in the Queen's Vase, proving his stamina and with the St Leger now on his horizon.  He was followed home by Tiger Moth who battled on well to be only a head away, then Dawn Patrol and Order of Australia, with Bolger's Fiscal Rules 5th.

The Vintage Crop 2800m appropriately went to the Lloyd William's owned Twilight Payment for Joseph O'Brien and Wayne Lordan .  This could be indicative of a trip to Melbourne later in the year.  Jessica Harrington's Barbados ran second on 20/1 and Sovereign  third.
