Jockeys testing positive to Covid-19

To add to the general chaos surrounding the pandemic, four jockeys have tested positive.

It seems to trace back to a meeting at Los Alamitos but some of these jockeys have travelled widely since then.  The jockeys involved are Luis Saez, Victor Espinoza, Flavian Prat and Martin Garcia.

The weekend did its best to provide racing as usual with the highlight being the condensed version of Keeneland's Spring meeting.  That started off on Friday with the Gr 1 Mile on turf which went to War of Will with the Lonhro product Parlor running second.

On Saturday a most unfortunate occurrence when the race presented by the Japan Racing Association was won by a horse named Enola Gay, which was the name of the plane that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima.

Less problematic was the win of favourite Guarana in the Madison Gr 1 followed as in market order by Mia Mischief and Bell's The One.

The Shakertown Gr 2 went to Leinster and the Ashland for the 3yo fillies saw Speech get the better of Venentian Harbor.

The Jenny Wiley Gr 1 over 1700m for the 3yo fillies again went as per script with Rushing Fall getting the nod over the Brazilian-bred Jolie Olympica.

And the Blue Grass looks like sending Art Collector to the Kentucky Derby by denying the filly Swiss Skydiver the win.  Rushie took the third money.

At Belmont Monomoy Girl had virtually a training run in the Ruffian as there were only 5 runners and she is a Gr 1 horse running in a Gr 2 race.

The Delaware Handicap was no challenge for Dunbar Road who beat home Saracosa and Bellera in the 1700m Gr 2 for f&m.
