And then there were three

This 2020 King George reflects the sorry state of racing.

With decent (a rare adjective to put before prize money in the UK) purses through to first 6 runners home, it is a tragedy to see this wonderful G1 race reduced to three runners.

Certainly there is Enable there going for her third win in the race but it is hardly worth either the horse or jockey getting out of bed for this.  Her two opponents come from the Aidan  O'Brien yard and Japan is a worthy opponent but it's not exactly a match race.

For the record the King George pays 4th 21+  thousand pounds, 5th 10+ thousand pounds and 6th 5+ thousand pounds, which is a lot more than a win would pay in many races and would be able to buy a few bales of hay.

John Gosden has said that Enable is now fully fit but will he be able to keep her up to top level for 2 months to the Arc without a decent hit out?  It has been wonderful that Khalid Abdullah has kept her in racing for this year so please horse owners and trainers give her some decent races!
