Galway Week starts Monday but as David Jennings bemoans in the Racing Post this year it will sadly be "a party without any cake, any candles, or drink or people". Galway week is generally measured by the size of the hangover and the number of days patrons can last out. This time it is straightforward racing and the opening evenings feature is the Connacht Hotel Premier Handicap, where the Willie Mullins trained Sharjah, second in the Champion Hurdle, is favourite for this go on the flat.
