All you need is Love if you want to win the Yorkshire Oaks.

And who knows – maybe the Arc?  Love was facing some creditable opposition on the Knavesmire but she is in another class.  Ryan Moore rode her hands and heels and she didn't need any encouraging to just run away with the spoon!  Alpinista, the Sir Mark Precott trained daughter of Frankel, went off at 33/1 and ran a blinder to take second, with fav Sacred, who didn't get the best start, third.

Earlier the Lowther went to Miss Amulet, by Sir Prancelot, who was given a great ride by James Doyle to defeat the favourite Sacred with Umm Kulthum third.

Friday's card starts off with the Lonsdale Cup G2 for the stayers over 3200m with 7 to run.  This is a chance for Enbihaar to shine for John Gosdon and Jim Crowley – 9/4, but as usual beware of the Mark Johnston runner – in this case Nayef Road on 5/2.

The Gimcrack is G2 over 1200m with 10 starters.  There's no outstanding runner here but a few who don't have that much between them – Yazaman and Mohawk King are on 9/2, Minzaal 11/4 and Mystery Smiles is 7/1 and could be value.

Then we have the Nunthorpe with top sprinter Battaash looking to be odds-on after his great run at Goodwood.  Art Power, from King Power Racing and trained by Andrew Balding, comes into this as the "X" factor – he is good enough to challenge Battaash on a bad day but can he rise to doing it on a good day?  He's 5/2 and A'Ali has got William Buick in the irons for the Crisfords.  There are 8 tackling the 1000m challenge.
