Deauville's big weekend

3 minute read

Saturday's results and Sunday's card

The Prix de la Nonnette G2 was the first of the Group races and no surprises when it went to the unbeaten Tawkeet, who now extends his winning runs to 5.  Tickle Me Green was second on 9/1 and third was Alkandora on 13/1.

The Prix Daphnis went to our tip the German raider Thorin 12/1 with Tammani second 7/1 and third Kenway 14/5.

The Prix du Calvados saw Fev Rover confirm her good reputation winning by a neck over Plainchant 19/1 and King's Harlequin third on 8/1.

Sunday's group races start with the G1 Prix Morny for 2yo colts and fillies over 1200m with 9 going to post. The Queen's Tactical will hopefully see the Royal Colours salute for Andrew Balding and P-C Boudot.  The son of Toronado won the July Stakes at Newmarket and looks well placed here.  The major challenge comes from the American filly Campanelle who was taken to Ascot by Wesley Ward where she won the G2 Queen Mary.  Dettori rides.  She's on 5/2, with Rhythm Master on 4/1 and we'll put in Cairn Gorm on 11/1/

The Prix Jean Romanet is G1 for f&m over 2000m with 12 entrants.  Nazeef looks a standout here and is on evens.  Bolleville for Joseph O'Brien is 5/1, Dariyama 6/1 and we will add the German raider Durance for Peter Schiergen and Lukas Delozier.
