On a day with the weather continuing to be "iffy" not many favourite came home in the first spot.  In the Strensall favourite Lord Glitters was third, with the win going to Mick Channon's Certain Lad well ridden by Holly Doyle and the second Epic Hero – they were both on 10/1.  Sad to report that the lovely Miss O'Connor broke down just after entering the straight and had to be put down.

The City of York saw Safe Voyage put in a dominant run to finish 3 ½ lengths ahead off fav One Master.  Third went to Queen Jo Jo 18/1 and Threat actually finished 4th but quite a bit back so actually no threat.

The Ebor was all Fujaira Prince with Andrea Atzeni in the irons for Roger Varian.  The last 4 winners of the Ebor have gone on to run in the Melbourne Cup but Varian is not convinced that his horse is the right one for that race and they may go to a stayers race at Ascot.  Glencadam Glory was second on 25/1, Verdana Blue third on 9/1 and Monica Sheriff 4th on 11/1 with the placegetters all well spaced out.
