Irish Cambridgeshire this Friday

3 minute read

There's a good mix of races for the young and the old at the Curragh on Friday.

The Flame of Tara G3 for 2yo fillies over 1600m with the going predicted to be soft.

Meala is a nice Epaulette filly with Jim Bolger and should be there or thereabouts – 2/1.  Nicest is with Donnacha and is by American Pharoah out of the lovely mare Chicquita (not the original Aussie one).  She's 7/2 and Dermot Weld saddles the Aga Khan's Emariya, a Sea the Stars fily.

The Snow Fairy (what a lovely horse she was) is for the 3yo fillies over 1800m with 10 going to post.  Jessica Harrington's Albinga is odds-on with runs on the board.  Aidan is sending out Lovelier 5/1 with Wayne Lordan and So Wonderful 13/2 with Beggy riding.  Bit of a roughie here with Thundering Nights 17/2 with Shane Crosse riding for Joseph.

The Irish Cambridgeshire is a Premier Handicap over 1600m with 20 runners.  Njord just got pipped at Galway but should be good to go here – on 9/2 for Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley.  Others in the mix could be So Suave 15/2, Jassaar who won this last year on 7/1, and our roughie here is Darkened if he gets a start.

We then have the Round Tower G3 for the 2yos over 1200m with 9 runners. Chief Little Hawk has a strong American sprinting  pedigree and is 9/4 for Aidan and Lordan.  He's by Air Force Blue.  Teresa Mendoza is by Territories and is trained by Kevin Condon who has booked Shane Foley for the ride – 5/2.  We quite like Coill Avon on 7/2 with Colin Keane riding the Kingman colt for Ger Lyons.
