The Dermot Weld trained Search for a Song won the 2020 St Leger
And that followed winning the race in 2019! This year he was in the capable hands of Oisin Orr and scored by 2 lengths from Fujaira Prince and not a bad run from the Lloyd Williams' owned Twilight Payment in third. Sovereign was disappointing.
The Group races started with Cayenne Pepper taking the win from early leader Amma Grace 50/1 who stuck on bravely for second with Thundering Nights 9/1third. Favourite Magic Wand was eased up – not sure what the problem was.
The Flying Five saw 2019 Abbaye winner Glass Slippers book a return trip to Paris by winning from Keep Busy 18/1 and Sonaiyka 11/1.
Shale gave Donnacha O'Brien a good win in the Moyglare defeating the well-backed favourite Pretty Gorgeous by 3/2 length and we are delighted to report that Oodnadatta ran a great race for third after starting at 22/1.
The Vincent O'Brien National went to the Joseph O'Brien trained Thunder Moon (seems like there was a lot of "thunder" about at the Curragh) who showed a brilliant turn of foot to charge through a gap and take the race. Wembley was second and St Mark's Basilica third with Lucky Vega most unlucky unable to get out.
