Gran Alegria is a very good horse indeed.
In winning her 3rd consecutive G1 she showed that she has maturity as well as talent as it wasn't until about 150m from home that Christophe Lemaire was able to get her out of the traffic jam and the rest, as they say, was history. She was very patient (as was her jockey) and therefore had plenty of energy for her final charge at the line.
Last year's winner Indy Champ managed to get past Admire Mars and take second but he couldn't get ahead of the winner who was in a class of her own.
Gran Alegria gave Lemaire his 34th GI and her double of the two big Miles was rare as was her combination of the Sprinters and the Mile.
Resistencia led but faded in the later stages of the race, no doubt being due to her lengthy absence from the track.
Admire Mars is due to return to Hong Kong to defend his title against the local champ Golden Sixty.
