Cool Day wins Carlos Pellegrini

3 minute read

Argentina's biggest race, the G1, has been won by Cool Day.

This was the 6th time trainer Alfredo Gaitán has collected the trophy.  Jockey Eduardo Ortega Pavón had to produce a cool ride as he waited for a gap to get through and when that happened the rest, as the say, was history.

Cool Day is by the John F Kennedy stallion who is a son of Galileo, and his dam Cool Site by Equal Stripes.  Marignac was second and favourite Tetaze missed the frame to finish fourth.

The previous race, the Gran Premio Felix de Alzaga Unzué, G1 over 1000m went to the speedy Strategos who in winning this by 6 lengths took out the Grand Slam of the Sprint races.
