The son of Frankel put in a great run to come with a strong finish which broke the race record.

Jockey Kawada-san said the horse can be temperamental but this time was well-behaved and saved all his energy for the run.

Stella Veloce managed to get through a gap and ran on to take second with favourite Red Belle Aube third.

It's not surprising that the records was broken as Mondreise under Christophe Lemaire took off like a scalded cat to be about 5 lengths in the lead on the turn but then ran out of gas at the 1400m post.

Over at Nakayama there was an emotional farewell ceremony for Almond Eye witnessed by 2,500 people who had won a lottery to gain admission.  She will now head to Northern Farm and a significant encounter with Epiphanea.
