Marcialis appeal denied

3 minute read

In France the decision made by France Galop in November to disallow a trainers licence for Andrea Marcialis for a period of six months, was upheld by France Galop following an appeal by Marcialis.

Marcialis was also banned from owning horses for that same time, as was his sister Elisabetta.

Marcialis is best known as the trainer of Way To Paris who won the GP de St Cloud and went to Japan to run in the Japan Cup before retirement.

Back in June Marcialis, evidently at the urging of his father, applied to have some boxes at Cabries, which is about 800kms south of Chantilly, his normal base.  This was refused by France-Galop.

As we reported previously, an 80 year old trainer at Cabries, Jean-Claude Napoli, had been a cover for several Marcialis runners.  It appears that he gave Elisabetta Marcialis the log in details of his trainer's account with France-Galop, a move which he is now regretting.  In August France Galop inspected Napoli's stables and found 12 horses associated with Marcialis and some of his owners.
