This is the start to the Santa Anita season and features three Grade 1 races.

The La Brea is for 3yo and is over 1400m.  Finite should have no problems with the trip and Steve Asmussen has stable jockey Santana on board.  9/2 the quote.  Baffert as usual has multiple runners with the two standouts probably being Himiko and Merneith both on 5/1.  We like the chances of Stellar Sound here with Victor Espinoza riding for Mike McCarthy and they too should enjoy the trip.

The American Oaks is over 2000m on the turf track and has a field of 10.  Sharing has done her share of traveling this year despite Covid and was second in the Coronation Stakes Sharing has done her share of traveling this year despite Covid etc and was even second in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.  Chad Brown has shipped over Capital Structure and Duopoly – the former with Joel Rosario riding and on 3/1, the latter Flavain Prat's mount on 6/1.

The Malibu is over 1400m with 6 runners.  This seems to be a match race between the two Speightstown sons Nashville 5/4 and Charlatan 2/1.

The NYRA has announced no Lasix within 48 hours of racing in all Stakes races in their jurisdiction from 1 January 2021.
