Newmarket Sunday

It's time for the girls – equine and human – to put on a show.

While the Pretty Polly is only a Listed race it always has importance leading up to the Oaks and other big races.  It's over 2000m for the 3yo fillies and there are 8 of them here.  Godolphin's A'Shaari is by Dubawi and comes from the Appleby yard with William Buick on board and a quote of 15/8.  She won on debut at Newmarket last August.

Sea Karats is by Sea The Stars with William Haggas training and Tom Marquand riding and they are on 2/1 after her impressive third on debut at Newbury.  Lady Hayes is on 13/2 with the Kodiac daughter having had 3 starts and winning two of them.  Roger Varian – David Egan.  And we have a roughie – The Flying Ginger on 25/1 as we have been taken over by a new stable cat who is ginger and flies.  He's had 6 starts and a couple of wins.

The Dahlia Stakes G2 is for f&m over 1800m and there are 8 starters.  Sir Michael Stoute's Queen Power is on 9/4 with Silvestre de Sousa riding.  Lavender's Blue is trained by Amanda Perett and Jim Crowley will ride and they are on 7/2.  Fooraat is on 9/2 for Varian-Egan.

The 1000 Guineas is G1 over 1600m.  Santa Barbara is on 5/4 for Aiden O'Brien and Ryan Moore.  The daughter of Camelot won her debut at the Curragh by 2 ½ lengths.  Sacred is by Exceed and Excel so a bit of Aussie interest and "Aussie Tom" is riding for William Haggas.  She's had 6 runs for 2 wins and 3 seconds.

Alcohol Free is a daughter of No Nay Never and races in the Jeff Smith colours and is trained by Andrew Balding with Oisin Murphy riding.  She's had 4 outings for 3 wins and 2 second.  And we also like Statement with the Martyn Meade trained daughter of Lawman value on 12/1 and William Buick riding.  She's had 4 starts for 1 win and 3 seconds but in the win she beat Alcohol Free.
