Mogul is back to Longchamp

3 minute read

Aidan O'Brien has always had faith in Mogul although it seemed to be taking a while for the penny to drop.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained Mogul with Ryan Moore in the saddle wins the LONGINES Hong Kong Vase (Group 1-2400m).

He will line up in the Prix Ganay G1 at Longchamp on Sunday and Christophe Soumillon will be on board.  He was 7th recently in the Dubai Sheema but probably not warmed up for that and go on his win in the Hong Kong Vase last December where he beat a top Hong Kong runner in Exalt by 3 lengths and his win in the Grand Prix de Paris last year shows that the trip is no problem.  The problem is that he's no value on evens.  Magny Cours is a nice Godolphin horse with Andre Fabre so Mikael Barzalona has the ride and they are 3/1.  Stablemate Mare Australia (by Australia)would probably like it a bit longer but is value on 8/1 with P-C Boudot riding.

The Prix Allez France is G3 for f&m over 2000m has 6 runners headed in the market by Raabihah for J-C Rouget and Cristian Demuro in the Shadwell colours.  Grand Glory is on 4/1 and Ebaiyra 5/1.

The Prix Barbeville also G3 is over 3100m and out friend Stephanie Nigge trains Karlarina who is favourite here on 2/1.  Stephanie came to the Melbourne Cup when she was an assistant trainer to Alain de Royer-Dupre and since then has progressed to training in her own name.  Karlarina is on 2/1 and Theo Bachelet will ride.  Her former boss trains Sheraz who is on 11/4 and as an Aga Khan horse will be ridden by Christophe Soumillon.  Measure of Time is on 4/1 for Fabre-Boudot.
