Mnasak nails UAE Oaks

3 minute read

Part of a double for Doug Watson and Pat Dobbs, Mnasek stormed away with the G3 feature.

The winning margin was 6 ½ lengths which could be enough to persuade connections to step up to the UAE Derby.  Nayefah on 28/1 filled the second spot and then it was 2 ½ back to Last Sunset in third and another 5l back to the 4th.

Equilateral managed to maintain the bragging rights in the Meydan Sprint G2 on the turf over 1000m.  Acklam was the second home and earlier fav Lazuli was a non-runner.

D'bai was all class in winning the Zabeel Mile in the first of a double for Appleby.  A well-judged closing run saw him overhaul First Contact 66/1 to win by a head and Art du Val was a neck away in third in a thrilling finish.

Another Appleby runner Summer Romance under James Doyle this time won the Balanchine G2 by 2 ¼ lengths from Stylistique with favourite Althiqa ¾ back in third and then a further length back to fourth Dubai Love.

Watson-Dobbs got their second victory when Al Tariq won the Al Shindagha Sprint, following on from their recent win at Jebel Ali.  Important Mission was second and odds-on favourite Gladiator King a bit one-paced in third, 3 ¼ lengths back of the second.
