The 2000 Guineas was won by Jim Bolger's homebred Poetic Flare 16/1.

And he was ridden by Kevin Manning, 54 years young who had been on Poetic Flare's sire Dawn Approach when he won that race, who is Bolger's son-in-law.  Lester PIggot was 56 when he rode the winner in 2006.

It was a ding-dong battle in the final stages between Master of the Seas as they went nose to nose and to the naked eye it was hard to pick which horse had won but in the end the verdict went to Poetic Flare by a short head with Lucky Vega just back in third.

The Palace House Stakes was another Appleby-Buick win with Lazuli winning the 1000m sprint from Come From The Dark and Emiraaty Ana.

The G2 Jockey Club Stakes saw Sir Ron Priestly get the better of Pyledriver over the 2400m trip.

Sunday's races saw a bit of an upset when Aidan O'Brien's Mother Earth perform the best of his entries with Frankie Dettori in the irons.  They had started at 10/1 but had a strong finish to get the better of Saffron Beach by a length and Fev Rover 22/1 only a neck away third and a nose in front of favourite Santa Barbara who didn't seem to like going up hill at the finish.

Earlier Mystery Angel 13/2 defeated Sea Karats in the Pretty Polly with Talisma third on 12/1.

Lady Bowthorpe 6/1 took out the Dahlia G2 from Queen's Power with Lavender's Blue third.  Fooraat was a scratching.
