As his father Lord Kanaloa had also done. Danon Smash had previously won the Hong Kong Sprint in December and will return there in April to run in the Chairman's Prize.

Once down to the pointy-end of the race it was all between Danon Smash, Resistencia and Indy Champ but again Resistencia had to settle for second. There was only a neck margin between all three.

At Nakayama on Saturday Win Marilyn got the verdict in the Nikkei Sho over Curren Bouquet d'Or with the girls having the top spots and World Premiere the best of the boys in third.

Japanese runners in Dubai had "seconditis" with four second placings on the night.
