The Osaka Hai G1 is the second of a series of G1 races in the Spring-Summer period.
It is usually the vehicle for horses to move into the senior ranks as they start their 4yo campaigns.
It was a wet day at Hanshin and the track was described as yielding but this didn't seem to bother Lei Papale, a 4yo Deep Impact filly, who was able to continue her run of wins and get her first G1. She led from the start and was never really under pressure with Mozu Bello coming through the pack to steal second from under the nose of the favourite Contrail who had to settle for third, 4 lengths adrift. Gran Alegria was fourth.
