French Youngsters on display

3 minute read

Two G3s at Deauville on Thursday are trials for the Guineas races coming up.

The first of these was for the 3yo colts down the 1400m straight.  Fast Raaj lived up to his name and won in record time by a head from Pimento.  Both are sons of Iffraaj with the winner starting on 12.0 and the second, a Godolphin trained by Andre Fabre, was on 3.0.  Prince Lancelot was third (by Sir Prancealot of course) on 10.0 and favourite Normandy Bridge fourth.

The fillies ran over the same track but in slower time.  Reina-Madre, by Kingman won on 18.0 for Delcher-Sanchez and Soumillon with Stay Angel, by Dark Angel, on 8.3 and trained by Markus Klug who opted to take the French route.  Louliana by Acclimation was third on 3.0 and again the favourite was fourth – See-The-Rose on 2.3.

The first two colts should certainly go into the little black book.
