Last week it was in Peru this week on the other side of the world in Mauritius another young jockey lost his life in a bad fall on the track.

We had seen quite a bit of Nooresh Juglal when he was riding in Singapore from 2014 to 2019 and he had also ridden in Hong Kong.  He had gone to the apprentice school in South Africa where he was champion apprentice in 2011/12 and 2012/13.

On Saturday he was riding a horse called Rule the Night when the horse ridden by Benny Woodworth went down in front of his horse and he sustained a fatal fall.  Woodworth was also injured but fortunately not so severely and both horses had to be put down.

It was the opening day of the Mauritian racing season and it appears not to have been the best of starts as there were 4 falls in total during the day.

Juglal was a very friendly and popular jockey with a young family and we send them all our most profound condolences.
