On Sunday she won her 5th G1 when she won the Victoria Mile in stunning fashion under Christophe Lemaire who picked up his 1,400th JRA win in Japan.

Deep Impact had been responsible for 10 of the 18 runners and his daughters duly obliged in finishing in the first three places with Rambling Alley, who had started on 75.2 finishing second but four lengths behind the winner in a wall of horses with margins of a neck separating them – Magic Castle 3rd, Dirndl (one of the outsiders in the field on 176.9) 4th, Shigeru Pink Dia 5th, Resistencia 6th , Danon Fantasy 7th and a head away in 8th was Des Ailes.

Gran Alegria had settled in mid-field until they turned the corner into the straight when she started to come round the field and from the top of the rise she just kept increasing her lead in a magnificent performance.
