Champions and Chater day at Sha Tin

3 minute read

This is the last G1 of the Hong Kong racing year. Run over the classic 2400m this year's edition has a field of 8, which probably isn't the strongest field we have seen.

Exultant always crops up at the top level of Hong Kong racing and will probably start favourite here.  Zac Purton will ride having recovered from the back problems encountered mid-week and is on 3.3.  However we think Glorious Dragon could put up a good challenge here and is better value on 4.5.  The former Brazilian champ Butterfield has put in some solid performances of late and is on 10.0.

That is Race 8, and earlier at Race 4 we have the Sha Tin Vase G3 over 1200m with 9 to run.  Courier Wonder seems to be a new wonder sprinter and is virtually unbackable on 1.1 with the Moreira-Size combo set to star here.  There's value around in the multiples and we have decided on Computer Patch 16.0, Stronger on 18.0 and Sky Field on 23.0.  Moreira rode a 5-timer at Happy Valley on Wednesday and is steaming ahead in the jockeys' champs.
