71st Yasuda Kinen

3 minute read

Tokyo's Fuchu track is as usual the venue for this prestigious G1 mile.

The weather forecast isn't the best with some heavy showers expected – fingers crossed they will be over and done with before the big race which this year has 15 starters.

Gran Alegria has brought much joy to her loyal fans amongst whom we include ourself and today she sets out to win her 6th G1 and defend her title.  Christophe Lemaire as usual in the irons – other than with dynamite we doubt you could get him off her- for the Fujisawa-sensei trained champ.

Her main rivals include Salios who has two wins over this c&d and is on 7.3.  Indy Champ who is very consistent over this trip 8.5 and Schnell Meister on 8.9.

Update – maybe the weather is the reason but Indy Champ is now the second pick on 7.0 with Schnell Meister next on 7.7 (he's a 3yo and gets a good weight advantage) and Salios is out to 8.8.

Our roughie is Cadence Call with some good recent form but he's gone out overnight to 12.9 from 10.8.

News from Belmont – France Go de Ina was in a good position for about ¾ of the race and obviously did not get the trip.
