Dreams come true at Royal Ascot

And it really was Royal Ascot with the Queen present.

The Queen did not have any luck in the Jersey Stakes as her two runners finished down the field.  That race went to Godolphin where Charlie Appleby saddled the quinella – Creative Force and James Doyle getting the better of Naval Crown and William Buick.  Vadream on 28/1 was third and Rhythm Master 40/1 fourth.

Favourite Wonderful Tonight won the Hardwicke by 1 ½ lengths from Broome who had started favourite.  Hukum on 8/1 was third.

And the Diamond Jubilees saw Sir Michael Stoute continue his impressive record of training winners at the Royal Meet when Dream of Dreams finally won at the third attempt, with Ryan Moore doing the steering.  They finished a length ahead of Glen Shiel and Art Power was third.

Her Majesty was able to go to the collect window when her brave King's Lyn ran third in the Wokingham, not a bad effort considering it was his second run for the week.  There were lots of scratchings here including our tips and we would have been tempted to have something on the eventual winner Rohaan.

While the crowds were limited there was at least a feeling of normality and those who did manage to attend certainly looked as if they were thoroughly enjoying themselves.
