Man o'War at Belmont

3 minute read

This Saturday see the running of the Gr 1 Man o'War.

It's over the 2200m of the turf course and there will be 8 contenders and not that straight forward.

Sovereign comes from the powerful Coolmore yard and this is his first start in the US.  He's now with Chad Brown and has pleased his new trainer with his work.  His record may not look that impressive apart from winning the Irish Derby as he kept running into Enable.  Not really value on 8/5 unless he is on very best form.  Gufo is starting his 4yo campaign and trainer Christophe Clement is happy with how he's developed since last November.  He won the Belmont International on this track and the home track advantage may be in his favour.  Joel Rosario rides and they are on 2/1.

Ziyad is having his third US run and first for trainer Graham Motion.  Franco has the ride and they are on 6/1.

There are two or three others that would not cause a major surprise should they win but you can't pick everything in the race.
