Saturday sees the running of the G2 Kyoto Shimbun Hai not at Kyoto but at Chukyo this year.

It is over 2200m for the 3yos and has 11 starters.  At present the Deep Impact colt Red Genesis is on 2.1, Machaon d'Or by Gold Ship is on 2.8 and Lupercalia, who has the most brilliant pedigree being by Maurice out of the wonderful mare Cesario and they are on 4.2.

Sunday we move to Tokyo for the G1 NHK Mile again for the 3yos.  There's not much between Grenadier Guards and Schnell Meister in the market – the former is favourite at present on 3.7 and the latter on 3.9.  Grenadier Guards is by Frankel and Schnell Meister by Kingman.  Pixie Knight, on 5.4, is by Maurice and one we rather like is Songline who is a bit of value on 11.5.  She's up against the boys but has a bit of weight help.  She's by Kizuno.
