To add to his 5-timer at Happy Valley Zac Purton rode at treble on Sunday.
He didn't win on Ping Hai Bravo in the Cornflower as it was Antoine Hamelin who had that ride for John Size, part of a double for him. Duke Wai was second in that race and Baltic Success third which gave us a nice trifecta.
Purton however did bring hone Butterfield in the Daisy with trainer Danny Shum saddling the quinella when Charity Go under Matthew Chadwick ran second. Maximus was third.
The HKJC has announced that they are going to let Japanese horses into HK for the internationals by having an agreed bubble for the accompanying humans. They said they could also do the same for Australia but that since Australians would need to quarantine on return and the dates clash with the Sydney Championships it was not expected that they would come. They have ruled out runners from Europe.
Considering that Japan has just extended its "emergency" lockdown on Tokyo and neighbouring prefectures including Chiba this seems a big risk. The "emergency" was extended for two weeks from 7 March but it is not yet over and vaccination is being sporadic.
