It's all happening at Deauville

3 minute read

With three Group races on Saturday and four on Sunday.

Saturday started with the Prix du Calvados over 1400m where Accakaba won from Fleur d'Iris but with only 5 2yo runners not a great deal of form to take from this.

The Prix de la Nonette was quite a surprise with Carlos Laffon-Parias's Rumi winning on 35/1.  Penja was secod and Rougir third with Harajuku only a short neck away in third.

And a bit of a surprise in the Daphnis when Bellharbour Music 14/1 beat Partenit 22/1 and Djo Français third.

Unfortunately Sunday looks as it's going to be wet, and the track is already soft.  It's a shame as this edition of the Prix Morny is very open and very intriguing with 14 2yos but no geldings!  All we can do is say what the market is but really anything could win.  Asymetric is on 7/2, Armor 3/1 and Velocidad 9/2.

The Jean Romanet is for f&m over 2000m with a field of 8 and Lady Bowthorpe seems to be back to her best and should she handle the going she would have a great chance here.  Ebaiyra is being aimed towards Arc Day but should be able to show up here and is on 4/1.  Joseph O'Brien brings Thundering Nights here and they are 5/1.

The Prix de Pomone is also G2 for f&m over 2400m and 6 to line up headed by the Rouget Raabihah on 7/4 and Cristian Demuro on board.  Valia is 2/1 and Sir Michael Stoute has sent Katara here obviously not just for the seafood.  Ryan Moore to ride.

The Prix de Kergolay is over 3000m and a good showing here has been known to lead to a trip to Melbourne.  Skazino has been a consistent stayer and Rossi has booked Barzalona for the ride.  They are on  5/4.  We like the German raider Rip Van Lips here from the Suborics yard with Gerald Mosse on board.
