Pack up the bucket and spade

3 minute read

Sunday's Deauville meeting will be the end of a most pleasant month at the beach for many.

And that includes the horses, who can be seen early morning down at the beach going for their swims.

And the track is reading good for Sunday's card which has two G3s and a G2.

The two G3s are the Prix de Meautry for 3y+ down the straight 1200 and the Prix Quincy over 1600m also down the straight.

There are 12 in the Meautry and it is quite open.  The Fabre trained Duhail is on 7/2 with Maxime Guyon on board and then we have Her Majesty's Light Refrain with Tom Marquand riding for William Haggas and they are on 6/1.  There's two here at decent odds worthy of a bit of the e/w at 12/1 – Air de Valse and Sestilio Jet.

The Quincy has 11 runners and again very open.  Three horses share the 5/1 quote – Alpen Rose for Godolphin (Pantall-Barzalona) who as a filly gets the weight allowance, Celestin for Chappet-Menizobal and Dilawar (Alain Royer-Dupre and Christophe Soumillon).  Johan from the Haggas yard hasn't come just for the seaside and Tom Marquand rides and 6/1.

The Grand-Prix de Deauville is over 2100m and has only 5 runners.  Godolphin's Sublimis is coming down in trip and gets a quote of 3/2 for Fabre-Barzalona with the other main contender being Glycon who is already a course and distance winner at G3 level.
