The G1 mile saw the first German-bred horse take out the Mile Cup G1.
It was close to record time and Schnell (quick) Meister who is by Kingman out of the Soldier Hollow mare Serienholde was able to just get his nose in front of the fast-finishing Songline on the line, with favourite Grenadier Guards third. Another G1 for Christophe Lemaire.
Unfortunately for backers of Bathrat Leon he separated from his jockey Yusuke Fujioka just after the start. Both were unharmed.
On Saturday at Chukyo the Kyoto Shimbun Hai went to Red Genesis by ¾ length from Lupercalia with Machaon d'Or third.
