Last Friday at Monterrico in Lima Peruvian jockey Juan Eugenio Enríquez was killed in a race fall.
He was riding in the first race of the afternoon, a 3yo maiden over 2000m, when his mount Como Cañon fractured a leg and Enríquez was fatally injured in the fall. He was 27 years old and in 2014 had ridden the winner of the Gran Premio Latino Americano on his home track.
The rest of the card was suspended as a mark of respect.
